I’ve really got out of the routine of day-to-day blogging, I can’t believe it’s the 8th of October already and so far I’ve posted nothing this month… Oops, my bad! 😦
Anyway, nothing much exciting happened today apart from sheer forgetfulness and consequent faffing about leading to abject photographic failure. Recently I’ve got out of the routine of taking my camera with me everywhere too, but this morning I decided to rectify the situation. I had a few bits and bobs to do locally so I thought it might be fun to take my camera out today to see what I could see around and about.
So I put my camera battery on charge, sorted out the recycling bin to take out on my way out, and got myself organised – using the term (unbeknownst to me) extremely loosely.
I put my camera safely in my bag and left the flat, planning to start close to home with photographing a lovely wall of autumnal foliage that has just started to turn. I reached the wall, took out my camera and… nothing happened. No power. I realised immediately I’d forgotten to replace the charged battery back in the camera before I left. Oh well, I thought, no harm done, I’ll just go back and sort it out, it’s only 5 minutes out of my day.
So I returned to the flat, went in to insert my camera battery, and realised I’d forgotten to take out the recycling when I first left. I put my camera down on the kitchen counter, picked up the recycling bin, emptied it, returned it to the kitchen, and left the flat for a second time… Back at the wall of leaves a few minutes later, I remembered I’d forgotten to pick up my camera again afterwards.
Stuff it, I thought, I’m not going home again, my neighbours will think I’ve finally lost the plot. So instead of taking camera-quality photographs of the autumn leaves as planned I just continued disappointedly with my mundane tasks, and it was only on the way home again I decided to use my phone camera to at least take something to show for my day – so here are a few routine everyday views from Leytonstone in East London.
Some purple pom-pom dahlias (I think) in someone’s front garden, someone else’s lost little friend sitting on a wall waiting to be found by its owner, a random rose growing against a brick wall, and a huge pile of cascading rubbish balancing precariously behind a local convenience store.
No colourful autumnal leaves, but hopefully I’ll have better luck tomorrow… 🙂
