My Weekly Smile this week just has to be the sheer delight on my husband’s face to actually be picking fat juicy plums daily from his own plum tree! I grew up with a plum tree growing in my mum and dad’s garden so I guess I just don’t share the same novelty factor of having an over-abundance of fresh plums available on the doorstep. We’ve already had a yummy plum crumble made with the first batch, as well as just eating the plums au naturel of course! Plenty more where they came from… I’m sure we’ll both be sick of the sight of them before long, but luckily we have plenty of family who have offerred to help eat as many as we can spare 🙂

Plums are great. I’ve been enjoying plum season, but it is with store bought, not fresh picked! Sounds delicious. And it gives you soemthign to paint…

Hi Ruth.
I’m so envious of your plum tree. Our is sick somehow and this year we got no fruit because they all did not mature. I’ve tried a couple of things but clearly dont have a solution yet.
So I’m going to sit back and stare longingly at your photos for a while. . .
Thanks for sharing.

Unfortuately they’re all ripening at once, so we’ve been donating bucket-loads to family and friends rather than let them go to waste…

I’ve never made anything with plumbs. My mom used to make jam from road plumbs, those she found wild along the roads on her walks in Alabama. A plum crumble sounds very nice.

Plum crumble is lovely – it’s very similar in colour to rhubarb crumble 🙂
